Adaptive/therapeutic riding program

Adaptive riding services are led by a PATH Intl Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor

( http://www.PathIntl.org ) a voluntary, entry-level credential for individuals in the equine-assisted services (EAS) profession who provide riding instruction of therapeutic value to people with disabilities. This may include mounted or unmounted work ethically partnering with an equine. PATH Intl CTRIs have met established criteria and standards of practice in the field. They have demonstrated their knowledge of disabilities, equines, teaching and human-animal interactions necessary for effective performance as an entry-level therapeutic riding instructor.

Our PATH Intl Certified Instructors are not licensed therapists and do not provide clinical counseling. Unlike traditional riding lessons, volunteers assist the instructor in leading horses or assisting a rider's stability in the saddle.   Activities may include relationship building, self-confidence, communication, and basic horsemanship.

Each adaptive riding term occurs over a designated term period.  During that period, each rider will work towards identified goals based on their individual needs and unique abilities.  Lessons available for ages 5 years and up.
